Publisher and contact

ClipSail is published by roman10. For privacy questions, support, or to ask us to delete your support correspondence, email hello@clipsail.app.

This policy covers the ClipSail app, email you send to support, and this website.

ClipSail copies the file you choose into the app's private storage, checks it, then converts and validates it on your device. No account is required. The app doesn't upload your media or send diagnostics automatically, and this version doesn't include an analytics service. Your original is never overwritten or deleted.

Files, Photos and cloud providers

You choose one item through Photos or Files. If it's stored with a cloud provider, that provider may download it using its own network connection or sign-in. Conversion starts only after a verified private copy is available.

A completed result first lives in the app. Save creates a separate copy in the Files or Photos/Gallery destination you choose. Share hands a copy to another app through the system share sheet, and opening a result passes it to an app that can play it. That app or service then handles its copy under its own privacy terms. Opening the share sheet doesn't confirm that anyone received the file.

Backups and connected services

Your phone's operating system may include the app's data in backups or device transfers, depending on your settings. ClipSail doesn't exclude its private files from those system backups. Files, Photos and other apps may sync copies you save or share. You manage those copies and backups in the relevant system or service settings.

Storage on your device

Unused temporary work expires after 24 hours.
Staged copies of your input are eligible for cleanup after 7 days. Active work, your current selection and anything an uncertain save depends on stay protected, and a newer job that uses the same input extends its deadline. After cleanup, select the original again to restart.
Completed results, job records and support reports aren't removed by automatic cleanup. A completed result stays until you delete it.
Removing a Library entry only hides it. Delete app result removes that app-owned result. App cleanup never deletes your originals or copies you saved elsewhere.
Uninstalling the app can remove its private files, so keep your own copy of any result you need.

Support reports are opt-in

Creating a support report shows a local preview that you can edit. Generated reports contain numeric app, OS and component versions and coarse counts of operations and errors. They exclude media, file names, paths, provider links, thumbnails, job identifiers and raw logs.

Save and Share use exactly the text shown in the editor, including anything you add, so leave out personal details you don't want to share. Reports are never sent to us automatically.

Email to support

When you email hello@clipsail.app, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach, such as a support report.

Email to this address is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to a Gmail mailbox provided by Google.
We keep your correspondence while we're resolving your case. 90 days after the case is closed, we delete the email thread, any attached reports and the working copies we control.
If you write again about a closed case, it becomes active again, and the 90-day period starts over when it closes.
This is separate from storage on your device, which the app manages as described above.
Cloudflare and Google handle email under their own policies, and their backup and security retention may differ from ours. See Cloudflare's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy.

This website

This website is hosted by Vercel.

Hosting. To serve the site and protect it from abuse, Vercel processes technical information about each request, such as your IP address and other request metadata. Vercel handles this under its privacy policy.
Analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to see page views in aggregate. It doesn't use cookies. For each page view it records the page, the referring page, and general information such as approximate location, browser, operating system and device type. Visits are told apart by a hash of the request that is discarded after 24 hours, and the statistics we see don't identify you.
No cookies, accounts, forms or ads. This website doesn't set cookies, has no accounts or forms, and shows no ads. We never ask you to upload media through it.
Your theme choice. If you use the light/dark switch, the site saves your choice in your browser's localStorage under the key clipsail-theme, so it can remember it on your next visit. It stays in your browser and is never sent to us or anyone else. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes it.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when the app, support or website practices change, and change the date at the top.
